Kilchoman 'STR Cask Matured' 50%

Kilchoman's new 'STR Matured' whisky has come from casks that have undergone a unique process, invented by the late Dr. Jim Swan, one of Scotland's foremost whisky experts. Fresh ex-red wine hogshead cask's have their inner staves shaved, toasted and then re-charred, exposing and maximizing the flavours pulled from the wood. A soft peat smoke starts the aroma, with summer fruits, toffee and hearty spices. On the weighty palate, layers of caramel, berries and a classic Kilchoman tangy citrus note leave a flavour of earthy peat smoke, spice and honey in the finish. We're delighted to have this whisky finally on our shelves, it has been one of the most requested releases of the year.
