The first-fill ex-Sherry butt maturation has given this Bunnahabhain an incredibly dark colour, and is the latest release of Adelphi's sensational selections from this iconic Islay malt. On the nose an evocative note: sparklers by a beach bonfire on Guy Fawkes night; a meat pie accompanied with a hot cup of Bovril, meaty and rich. There are also nuances of cheese rind in the background. To taste, an explosion of gunpowder, rockpools, hot sand, borage honey and ginger. A malty and gingery note continues in the finish, which is very textured and drying. An absolutely cracking dram for the cooler evenings to come.
