Blended by one of Scotland's most famous Master Blender's, Billy Walker, this new lineup of Irish whiskey is part of a limited edition series of whiskies selected for the Lough Gill distillery in Sligo. Like the other releases from the series, the Knocknarea is 14 years old, with 11 years spent maturing in American oak casks, and a final 3 soaking up the rich flavours of Oloroso sherry casks. The nose, described by Billy carries a distinctive signature of certain Irish single malts - pencil shavings, sandalwood, cedar and floral laundry scents. The palate demonstrates the sherry cask influence with raisins, brown sugar, fruit mince pies and caramel, before cigar box spices and peppery notes come through in the finish.
