Batch 128 is the latest release from Wolfburn, one of Scotland's newest distilleries, situated on the northern coast of mainland Scotland. Lightly peated spirit was filled into a batch of specially made casks: half-sized first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The aroma of this Wolfburn is very fresh (a sea-side breeze) and lively, with notes of dried apples, nutmeg and sweet vanilla pod. There is a subtle background tang of peat smoke on the palate that has a very waxy and oily feeling, carrying butter toffee, dried apricots and candied orange zest with a surprisingly rich, earthy feel. Limited to just 6,000 bottles worldwide.
