Happy Ardbeg Day 2019! The latest annual release from the Ardbeg distillery is now available to coincide with the celebrations currently taking place on Islay. Originally matured in ex-bourbon casks, its final resting period was in rum casks from the Americas. Fragrant with pine resin and seaspray aromas, the classic Ardbeg peaty note comes through with hints of woodsmoke and spice. The rum casks show their influence with lush hints of ripe banana and pineapple and even a touch of lavender and liqourice. A rich, dark chocolate and vanilla flavour lingers on the palate which finishes sooty and a wee bit ashy. The rum cask influence is very cleverly used here, this is most definitely Ardbeg, but with a gentle tropical twist.
If you are in Christchurch, why not pop along and celebrate Ardbeg Day in the shop on the 1st of June - we are open from 9:30am till 4:00pm and have the Drum open for tasting along with Ardbeg themed activities - remember to dress up for an Islay & Carribbean festival!
