Bottled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Port Askaig brand, this limited edition release was chosen from ex-bourbon & sherry butts from a distillery near the village of Port Askaig on Islay. An evocative swirling smoke starts the aroma - coal fires, beaches and maritime peat, with sweet honey-drizzled pancakes, autumn fruit and rashers of salty, smoky bacon. The palate is sea-side peat smoke, with salt-crusted bread, extra virgin olive oil and lashings of pepper and Chinese five-spice drifting away. A cracking dram from the team at Elixir and a cheers for 10 more years.
