Distilled in 2009 at the Craigellachie distillery, this new two-cask bottling from Cadenhead is a perfect introduction to the joys of cask strength whiskies, bottled without filtration or dilution. Classic in its style, this Craigellachie carries a grassy, herbal flavour (sage, cut grass, oregano) that is joined by tones of gooseberry, pancakes drizzled with maple syrup and chocolate (dark chocolate chips). A faint suggestion of smoke can be found, alongside roasted pineapple. A very suitable choice for a cheeky Christmas morning dram.
