This new release from Benromach's cask strength range comes from casks laid down in 2009 and then bottled after 10 years of maturation at their natural strength. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, the aroma is distinctly Benromach - rich fruit puddings (clafoutis, raisin bread, Christmas), beeswax, malt biscuits and a dusting of cocoa powder, gently enveloped in a soft peat smoke. The smoky aroma and flavour has a wonderful sweet and savoury quality of smoked, brown-sugar cured ham and an edge of peppercorn heat. A great all-rounder dram offering varied and complex flavours.
